In het noorden bevinden zich de meeste historische bezienswaardigheden, waaronder Umm Salal Mohammed, een relatief groot dorp dat wordt gedomineerd door de ruïnes van een 19e-eeuws fort. Bijzonder interessant zijn de Grote Moskee met zijn vele koepels en de Abu Bakir al-Siddiq Moskee. Aan de westkust liggen prachtige stranden bij Umm Bab, Dukhan en Salwah, vlak bij de grens met Saoedi-Arabië. Het zuiden bestaat uit zandduinen en stranden, waar je parels kunt zoeken of diverse watersporten kunt beoefenen. Mocht u de drukte van de stad beu worden, dan ligt de rest van Qatar praktisch om de hoek, met prachtige landschappen en interessante historische bezienswaardigheden voor wie van avontuur houdt.
