noumea, new caledonia
Arrival: 08:00 - Departure: 17:00
Nouméa is the capital and largest city of the French special collectivity of New Caledonia. It is located on a peninsula in the south of New Caledonia’s main island, Grande Terre, and is home to most of the island’s European, Polynesian (Wallisian, Futunian, Tahitian), Indonesian, and Vietnamese populations, as well as many Melanesians, Ni-Vanuatu, and Kanaks who work in one of the South Pacific’s most industrialised cities. The city sits on a protected deepwater harbour that serves as the main port for New Caledonia. At the August 2014 census, the metropolitan area of Greater Nouméa (French: agglomération du Grand Nouméa) had 179,509 inhabitants, 99,926 of whom lived in the city (commune) of Nouméa proper. 66.8% of New Caledonia’s population lives in Greater Nouméa, which includes the communes of Nouméa, Le Mont-Dore, Dumbéa, and Païta.

Day 5
mystery island - vanuatu
Arrival: 08:00 - Departure: 17:00
Mystery Island, also known as Inyeug Island, is a small uninhabited island in Tafea Province, Vanuatu, in the Pacific Ocean. The name “Inyeug” means “Small Island” in a local language. Cruise ships that regularly visit the island use the name Mystery Island. Covering about 15.9 hectares, the island lies roughly 1 km south of Aneityum Island. Inyeug is bordered to the west and south by the coral Intao Reef, which stretches further south and, though submerged, forms the southernmost point of Vanuatu. Mystery Island hosts the airport that serves nearby inhabited Aneityum Island. The airport is essentially a grass airstrip that receives small aircraft flights twice weekly from Port Vila via Tanna Island.

Day 6
lifou, loyalty island
Arrival: 08:00 - Departure: 17:00
Lifou Island, also known as Drehu in the local language, is the largest, most populated, and most important of the Loyalty Islands (Loyalty Islands Province) in the New Caledonia archipelago, an overseas territory of France in the Pacific Ocean. First sighted by the French navigator Dumont d’Urville in 1857, it was soon visited by whalers and traders and later became a destination for Protestant and Catholic missionaries seeking to convert the local population. In 1864, the islands were annexed by France, which designated them as an Aboriginal Reserve, as they were not considered suitable for extensive colonization. The term “Kanak” refers to the Indigenous people of the islands. The native language of Lifou is Drehu, and its people are descended from both Melanesians and Polynesians. Nineteen different tribes inhabit the three Loyalty Islands, six of which are located on Lifou. The current traditional high chief of Lifou is Evanes Boula, who is chief of 13 of the tribes across the three islands. He succeeded Henri Boula on June 13, 1999.
